1 mg is step 3 of 5 on the semaglutide ladder, reached around weeks 9-12. A genuinely therapeutic dose, and one some people stay on rather than continuing up the ladder.
It is also the point where pricing starts to matter. On a programme that charges by dose, your bill climbs exactly as the treatment begins working. On a flat-rate programme, 1 mg costs what the starting dose cost — and over a full titration that difference is worth more than almost any advertised discount.
What 1 mg is for
1 mg is a genuinely therapeutic dose and a common place to settle. It is also the dose at which semaglutide is widely used for type 2 diabetes, so there is a large body of real-world experience with it beyond the weight-management trials. If you are getting the appetite effect you need here, there is no particular reason to keep climbing.
Side effects are usually more manageable here than at the 0.5 mg step, because the system has adapted.

Do you need to go higher than 1 mg?
Not necessarily. The ladder exists so that you can stop where the medication is working for you, and plenty of people settle below the maximum. Reaching the top dose is not a measure of success, and the trial figures are averages rather than targets.
Is 1 mg enough, or should I go to 2.4 mg?
Depends entirely on what it is doing for you. 2.4 mg is the dose behind the 14.9% trial average, but averages are not targets. If 1 mg is working and tolerable, that is a good outcome.
